Question by matt: What happens when wearing teeth whitening strips for too long?
I bought the Crest Advanced Vivid whitening strips and as I was beginning to wait for the 30 min wait, I accidentally fell asleep and ended up wearing the strips for like 7 hours. Now my lower tooth is sensitive and hurts a little. Will the pain go away and do i need to get this checked up or something?

it seems you might damage the enamel. Don’t leave them on longer than required.

No the pain will go away by it self. Try rinsing with warm salty water three to four times a day. Usually it goes away after 4 hours max. Also vitamine E oil that you can find in any pharmacy and also fluoride rinse. Use just regular tooth paste and rinse. You should never sleep with strips on. They can cause recession of the gums and sensitivity of the oral tissue.
Stop immediately the usage of strips for 3-4 days and reuse them when all the symptoms are gone.

The sensitivity will go away over time. Teeth whitening products tend to do that from time to time. I’m using the crest 3d white vivid strips (the cheapest ones), and i intentionally leave them on longer every day. Evey dentists need atleast 2 hours to whiten teeth, I refuse to believe over the counter products do it any faster than a dentist could.
